Local Programs

Ability-Works

  • 3920 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky (Main building, programming takes place within Lorain County)

  • A 5-week work readiness skills program taking place in various locations around Lorain County. Dates for summer 2023 are Session 1: June 5 – July 7 and July 10 – August 11. 

Abilities First

  • A half-day sensory motor and writing camp for ages 4 – grade 3. Summer 2023 programming dates range from June14 – July 29 from 9:30 AM – 11:00 AM. Accepts insurance, Medicaid, and scholarships. 

Beyond Words

  • A team of Music Therapists and Dance Instructors offering alternative methods of communication. Programs available for ages 2 and up. Summer programs begin June 5, 2023 in addition to regular programs available all year. Family Supports funding accepted. 

Bright Future Summer Program

  • A pre-school aged summer program for children (3-5) with visual impairment as a primary or secondary disability. The program addresses pre-academics, socialization, and communication skills. Summer 2023 program runs June 26 – July 20 from 9:00 AM-12:30 PM. 

Camp Can Do

  • An adapted skills-learning camp that also includes supervised recreational activities for ages 5-13. The eight-week program broken down into four sessions begins June 12 – August 3, 2023 (Monday-Thursday). Registration fee is $20. Additional fees for sessions.

Camp Cheerful

  • A camp offering a variety of therapeutic activities. Many programs available for children and adults starting in June 2023. Registration open February 13, 2023. Accepts waiver funding. 

Camp Happiness

  • A traditional camp with modified activities to meet the needs of each camper. Summer 2022 programs begin June 19 – July 28, 2023 for ages 5-21. Receive a hardcopy of the application by emailing Kayti at kehedberg@ccdocle.org or Lauren at lmmailey@ccdocle.org. Accepts waiver funding. 

Camp I.D.E.A.S.

  • A day program for children. Registration fee is $50, no transportation provided. Summer 2023 programming runs June 22 – July 21 from 9:30 AM – 2:30 PM. 

Camp Imagine

  • An Extended School Year (ESY) camp offering recreational and skills-based activities for ages Pre-K through grade 12. Summer 2023 programming begins June 19 – July 28. 

Facetime Summer Camp (Cleveland Hearing and Speech Center)

  • A speech program designed for ages 9-16. Dates for summer 2023 programming are July 31 – August 3, from 9:00 AM – 3:30 PM. Accepts Medicaid and Medicare funding. 

Insight Academy

  • The social-emotional program for K-12 will take place Summer 2023 programming begins June 27 – July 27 Monday-Thursday from 9:00 AM-2:00 PM. Other programs available all year long for ages 3 and up. 

KRAZY KAMP

  • A year-round program available for children with physical disabilities such as cerebral palsy, spina bifida, muscular dystrophy, etc. Donations are suggested, but not required to participate in programming. Transportation is available on a limited basis.

MTEC Music Therapy Enrichment Services

  • Musical therapy, lessons, and classes for youth and adults. Accepts Family Supports funding and scholarships, some available on the organization’s website. 

S.T.O.P. (Satisfaction through Opportunity Program)

Akron Rotary Camp for Persons with Special Needs

  • Programs for all ages – daytime and overnight opportunities for campers of most ages and abilities. Respite care available for most ages. 

All Abilities Camp

  • A free physical fitness camp incorporating activities such as baseball, football, obstacles, and general fitness. For ages 5 and over. Summer 2023 camp will take place June 16 – June 17. 

Camp Echoing Hills

  • Recreational day camps and respite opportunities tailored to meet the needs of each camper. Summer 2023 programming takes place between June 11 – August 4. Accepts waiver Funding.

Camp Nuhop

  • A variety of outdoor summer programs located in Ashland County with a goal of building confidence. Camp Nuhop offers summer programing for ages 8-29. Summer 2023 programming begins June 11 – July 28. 

Fieldstone Farm Therapeutic Riding Center Camp

  • Equestrian summer camp with a variety of programs all involving horses! This camp is available for ages 6-16. Summer 2023 programming begins June 5 – August 4. Campers can attend up to two weeks during the summer season. 

Flying Horse Farms

  • A camp for children ages 7-15 who has a diagnosis within the areas of cardiology, hematology, oncology, rheumatology, gastrointestinal disorders, pulmonary disorders, rare diseases, and facial anomalies. The camp is available at no cost and includes lodging and meals. Camp program dates range from June 11 – August 13, 2023. See website for specific sessions. Family sessions provided in the Spring and Fall.

Hawken Summer Programs

New Avenues to Independence

OYO Camp
