COMMUNITY/PROVIDER EDUCATION COORDINATOR
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum:
Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in education, child development, human services, or related field
At least three years of paid, full-time (or equivalent part-time) experience working directly with individuals with developmental disabilities
Ability to assess and address strengths and needs of people of all ages with developmental delays/disabilities
Knowledge of early childhood development for children birth through age five
Ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing
Ability to effectively provide trainings/presentations to large and small audiences
Independent and self-motivated, with strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to use computer software to create presentations (i.e. PowerPoint and google sheets)
Proficiency with computer, phone and other related technology. Proficiency with Windows-based operating environment: Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word; and using the internet
Must have a history of satisfactory job performance. Must have a record of reliable work attendance
Must have a valid Ohio driver’s license and an insured personal vehicle to use while on Agency business. Must have a good driving record
Preferred:
Masters degree in education, child development, human services or related field
Experience in working with families who have infants or toddlers with developmental delays and/or developmental disabilities
Strong knowledge about characteristics of and support strategies for people with autism spectrum disorders
Strong knowledge about behavior support interventions
Professional experience with resource identification; familiarity with Lorain County resources
Experience with coaching professionals and para-professionals in the performance of job duties
Experience/competence in public speaking, and providing trainings/presentations
RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and provide to various local audiences community-based presentations and information sessions concerning developmental delays/disabilities, including autism spectrum disorders, and pertinent support implications.
As assigned, assist local child-serving and other providers that are not part of the DD system to learn about/effectively serve children of all ages and adults (including senior adults) with developmental disabilities; this may entail providing guidance and child-specific consultation to child care center staff.
Performance of the above may entail on-site observations/consultations, assessment of strengths and needs of children and adults with developmental delays/disabilities, research and provision of information on resources that may benefit individuals and/or groups of individuals with developmental delays/disabilities, establishment/maintenance of rapport with community members/agencies, and maintenance of accurate records of activities in electronic formats.
HOURS:
Generally, 40 hours per week. Flexible as needed.

Level 6
