NURSE 1/RN
Location: Adult Program locations, Murray Ridge School, outing locations
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum:
State of Ohio license for Registered Nurse required. Knowledge of nursing of individuals with developmental disabilities. Ability to use a computer, including Microsoft Word and Outlook.
Must have a valid Ohio driver license and an insured personal vehicle for agency use. Must demonstrate continuous satisfactory job performance. Must have a record of reliable work attendance.
Preferred
Bachelors degree in Nursing. Prior experience with the delegation of medications and treatments to unlicensed staff. Minimum three (3) years nursing experience, part of which is with individuals with developmental disabilities. Previous experience in a Medicaid or licensed facility.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide emergency health assessments and care for illnesses and injuries. Promote the physical environmental health and safety for students in the school or adults in the opportunity/vocational centers (OVCs). Maintain accurate health records and routine screening for vision, hearing, etc. and interpret same.
Assess student/adult consumer responses to nursing actions in order to revise the database, nursing diagnoses, and nursing care plan and to determine progress made toward goal achievement.
Develop and provide in-service training to staff, consumers, and others.
Attend and participate as a member of an interdisciplinary team in Individual Service Plan (ISP) meetings, staff meetings, in-services, safety committee and others, as needed.
Coordinate delegated nursing services, communicable disease program, and medical screenings and referrals.
In cooperation with the Delegated Nurse Instructor, instruct in Medication Administration Certification training classes as assigned. Delegate nursing tasks to certified non-licensed staff within the scope of Ohio laws and rules.
Administer non-delegable prescription medications and treatment to consumers. Participate in the delivery of services through ISPs. Submit written assessments to the ISP team.
Provide nursing services during summer day camp and recreational activities, as assigned.
Provide nursing support during consumer transportation, as needed.
Collaborate with other agencies and professionals in assessing, planning and implementing and evaluating programs and other school activities, regarding issues of health and safety.
Communicate with doctors, as needed, and advise/follow-up with families, group home staff, and others.
Responsible for nursing stock items and monitor availability of medications.
Provide nursing staff coverage, where needed, for vacations, call-offs, holidays, etc.
HOURS:
8:00 am-4:00. Flexible as needed to meet the needs of the individuals we serve.
